    Hi Ruby,
I'll be shortly coming onto paper-2.
Starting with paper-1, In paper-1-- Q2 'a' shd be true. labia minora dont have sebaceous glands and hair follicles.
  4. Shipra

    Shipra Guest

Again ....though some corrections had already been made in the past papers..I'm repeating it here so that it becomes easy for all of us to match them.
    Paper-1 Q4- 'b' and 'e' shd also be true
  5. Shipra

    Shipra Guest

paper-1 ,6D shd be false as it passes through obturator foramen. The nerve to obturator internus passes through greater sc. foramen.
  6. Shipra

    Shipra Guest

paper-1 Q19 'a' and probably 'c' shd be also true
  7. Shipra

    Shipra Guest

    paper-1 18 'c' shd be false
  8. Shipra

    Shipra Guest

  10. Shipra

    Shipra Guest

    paper-1 Q16 'c' shd be true.
  11. Shipra

    Shipra Guest

Paper-1 Q25 'c' is true and probably 'e' is true too . Corticosteroids lead to lipolysis hence their def w'd lead to increase in lipids...?? though didnt find it any where...its my interpretation....Pls comment.
  12. Shipra

    Shipra Guest

    paper-1 35 'b' shd be true
  13. Shipra

    Shipra Guest

    Paper-1 32 'b' and 'e' shd be true
  14. Shipra

    Shipra Guest

    paper-1 Q 23 'c' shd be true and 'd' and 'e' shd be false.

"In the human infant under normal circumstances, the placenta has only limited permeability to thyroid hormone and the fetal hypothalamic-pituitary- thyroid system develops relatively independent of maternal influence"

I saw it in the following link:

    http://www.thyroidmanager.org/Chapter15/15-text.htm

Q26 paper-1 -- 'b' can be true...as progesterone though produced in significant amounts by corpus luteum is also produced by ovarian follicle ( though in minimal amounts)- Ref: Ganong
  16. Shipra

    Shipra Guest

    paper-1 Q 41- 'b' is false and 'd' is true
  17. Shipra

    Shipra Guest

paper-1 Q 29.. are u sure abt option 'b' ....though its metabolites are excreted in urine...still could not find anywhere its metabolism. Pls comment.
  18. Shipra

    Shipra Guest

Sorry ....just now got the explanation of metabolism of HCG in kdneys.
  19. Guest

    Guest Guest

hcg kits use its fraction for its detection. (have a read a reliable source - dont rememebr where though). 80 percent of it gets metabolized! it has various metabolite (atleast 3 , if i remember correctly)

paper-1 Q8 'e' shd be false as there's lateral prolongation of spinal dura over ant n post roos of spinal nerves into intervertebral foramen extending for a short distance. ( Lasts anatomy) - but i read in kl moore that the extradural space doesnt, although the dura does - pretty sure. can recheck if u want - will gt back onthis only if i am wrong.
going thru other comments ...willget back on them

    Guest Guest

Paper-1 Q25 'c' is true and probably 'e' is true too . Corticosteroids lead to lipolysis hence their def w'd lead to increase in lipids...?? though didnt find it any where...its my interpretation....Pls comment. - i agre with e being true.
how does deficiency of adrenocort. function cause an increase in skin pigmentation??? pls explain.
    thx

    Guest Guest

paper-1 35 'b' shd be true - they remain dormant in the sacral ganglia, not in epithelial cells. correct me if u feel i am wrong
  26. Guest

    Guest Guest

Paper-1 32 'b' and 'e' shd be true - calcitonin - tones the levels of calcium in the body, so answers to b and e are both false.

"In the human infant under normal circumstances, the placenta has only limited permeability to thyroid hormone and the fetal hypothalamic-pituitary- thyroid system develops relatively independent of maternal influence" - as far as i recollect, TSH is unchanged in pregnancy?! and t3 - i cant remember offhand. but e is true - for sure. will get back with the answers to confirm though -(from williams)

I m quoting these lines from my pharmac text.
"Injected insulin or that released from pancreas is metabolised primarily in liver and to a smaller extent in kidney and muscles.Nearly half of the insulin entering portal vein from pancreas is inactivated in the first pass passage through liver..."

Its seen is Addison's d/s as well as chronic glucocorticoid insufficiency.
"There's increased ACTH which has MSH activity which leads to diffuse tanning of skin and spotty pigmentations."

paper-1 42 -'e' is probably true- Pg 270- De swiet - " The rate of transfer of drugs across the placenta is relevant only in case of drugs given during delivery and not a consideration when given before labour" -- Do these lines mean ut. contraction during delivery enhance transplacental transfer of drugs??

no prob dear! take ur time. i know we donthave much time. i have givenmy views there. u can correct me if u feel i am wrong. i will get back here tomr. me leaving now.

this is wht i reasoned - during contrn - occusion f blood vessels - so no transfer??
but on the other hand u could argue saying that the uterine activity would draw more blood there. most people here feel its false?

Paper-1 Q 46- 'd' is probably false as nifedipine is CCB and detrusor has cholinergic receptors..

    Sorry 'e' is false....
  48. Shipra

    Shipra Guest
