COMMON ,IMPORTATNT OSCES for amc clinicals

    if a case or pertusis comes to you,and in the household contacts there is a 6week old baby, how will you protect the baby? will you give him antibiotics?or the DVT vaccine? or nothing?

    Regarding this pertussis case, I don't think you can give immunization yet, and if ever it will take time to work, so the child will get infected before he/ she develops immunity to it. Best way is to bring the child to the hospital and admit the child as they (<6 months old child) are prone to get seriously ill and have apnea when infected with pertussis. Maybe you can also give pertussis immunoglobulin (not sure if this is available though). Supportive care is given to the child.
