    DNB AFTER DMRD

Dr.ASHA ,MAM, PLEASE TELL ME THAT IS IT TRUE THAT AFTER DMRD DNB IN RADIO WILL TAKE 2 YEAR , IF SO WHAT WILL BE THE PROCESS. IS IT JUST APPLYING? IS THERE ANY INSTITUTE FROM WHERE I CAN DO DNB AFTER PASSING DMRD WITHOUT PASSING DNB PART 1?
  2. DNB COURSES

    HI,

IF THE DMRD IS MCI-RECOGNIZED, YOU CAN DO DNB IN RADIOLOGY IN 2 YEARS.

ON DNB WEBSITE, UNDER DNB-CET INFORMATION BULLETIN, THEY'VE GIVEN A STATEWISE LIST OF ACCREDITED INSTITUTIONS, FOR VARIOUS BRANCHES, SO YOU WILL NEED TO KEEP A WATCH ON THEIR INDIVIDUAL ADVERTISEMENTS IN THE LEADING NEWSPAPERS, IN THE MONTHS OF JUNE/JULY & IN DECEMBER/JANUARY, FOR DNB RADIOLOGY.

    DNB Radiology after DMRD

    Dear Mraj,

That is true. You have to do 2 years of DNB After clearance of DMRD. It is quite easy to get DNB after DMRD specially in South.

But if you have choice of doing straight way DNB Radiology (Primary) then please go with it. As it will only take 3 years to complete your Post-graduation.

But make it sure that you should DNB Radiology from good institute, preferably from any Teaching institutes.
  4. hello dr. asha
i am planning to join dmrd then dnb to be on safer side as i will have atleast 1 merit based mci recognised degree. will take 1 more yearbut at end of 4 years i will be having 2 degrees and 4 yrs of experince. Also after dmrd chances of clearing dnb radio in 1attempt will be high in comparision to 3 yrs of dnb in which it depends on institution how much they teach.
I want to know procedure for post dmrd dnbradio ,donations if any, good institutes.please reply i have heard lot about donations for primary dnb while u mentioned standard fees of 50k per year. also i have heard of good stipends of 30k etc while u mentioned std. stipend of 9,10,11000.

    hello Rahul,

I'm glad to hear that you're planning to do an MCI-recognized DMRD first & then join the DNB Radiology course. That gives you better experience & more chance of clearing DNB in 1st attempt!

Even if you take 1-2 attempts to clear DNB exam, you can still practice Radiology in any state in the meanwhile, as you've got the Diploma!

    Dr.Asha Paidhungat.
  6. could u please clear my doubts about stipend, procedure and donations about post dmrd dnb. how tough or easy to get post dmrd dnb.
Also i am getting md medicine and dmrd both in good govt. college which is more commecially viable if i have equal interesr in both fields. as many say that doing DM after md medicine is becoming necessacity for big cities. I get scared about competetion for DM and 6 more years of study in comparision to Dmrd + dnb=4yrs.

    Hello Rahul,

NBE fees are Rs 50,000 per year, at the maximum! If quarters are not provided, its Rs.40,000 per year.

NBE instructs all candidates to immediately bring it to its notice, if any institute is charging more than the above amount.

The stipend for 1st, 2nd & 3rd year of DNB residency for Broad speciality is Rs.10,000, Rs.11,000 & Rs.12,000 per month, respectively. For DNB in Superspeciality, its higher, naturally.

Radiology has more prospects than Gen. Medicine, but its an institutional branch, so either a hospital attachment or having your diagnostic Centre (which is very expensive) is mandatory.

Most doctors feel that doing MD/DNB in General Medicine isn't enough as it just amounts to being a glorified General Practitioner! I don't agree with that view because a consultant in General Medicine sees the patient as a whole, not with a tubular vision like many Superspecialists do!

To improve one's status(!), its quite enough to do postdoctorate Diploma in a subject like Diabetes, by campus or distance education!

    Dr.Asha Paidhungat.
  8. thanks dr. asha for ur advice.
just to know in case i opt medicine , what is course duration and appication procedure for post graduate dipoma u mentioned. what r various options to increase ones uniqness in field of medicine like u suggested one post graduate diploma in diabetes ,what r other fields and options.

    Hello Rahul,

After General Medicine, Diabetology is the most sough after branch, in which several centres have ampus/distance education courses.

One course is in Chennai by Dr.V.Mohan, a wellknown diabetologist.Even Annamalai university(near chennai), IGNOU(Delhi) have these distance education courses in Diabetology.

Diabetes is a very common problem in India & affects all organs, as you know. After a basic degree of MD/DNB in Gen. Medicine, if you specialize in Diabetes, its absolutely worth it!

Geriatrics, Community/Preventive Cardiology are available in IGNOU. They can be done after MBBS, but its better to do after a basic MD/DNB!
