    Docdoc,

Its really terribly sad, if you've faced this problem from a particular hospital. You must bring it to the notice of the DNB board at the earliest!

Whatever I myself have heard, from my students & from my colleagues, most hospitals are simply waiting for people to join various DNB courses, as very few people are taking it up, in view of the strict DNB Finals result! As you know, now even public hospitals enrolling M.D/M.S students are also allowed to enroll DNB students simultaneously, if there are adequate facilities & if the teacher:student ratio of 1:1 is maintained!

So, In fact, I'm really not at all certain, that such things are actually going on in all these hospitals!Of course, there are black sheep everywhere, that's also very true!

I met with RMO, He told me, their hospital is bankrupt.
Their's is charity hospital and they don't have money to pay thats why they r charging money. Also the registrar told me not to join there, he told me that he need desperetaly some candidate but not on cost of someone's career.

Already people has joined their by paying money and i talked with them they are OK with that.

Anyway I don't have that much money to pay and i am not that much desperate so better i'll wait for another vacancy in other hospital.

After talking with registrar i m dropping the idea of complaining.

    Thanks and regards

    Dear Doctor

You are required to pay Rs 50,000 anually to the hospital as tution fees which is as per guidelines issued by the National Board of Examinations. But other than that all fees( caution money, Bond, Donation ) is not allowed by the national board of examinations and is an serious issue .

You must complain with all the details and the hospital involved to Dr AK Sood, Executive Director, National Board of Examinations, New Delhi so that necessary action could be taken, So that other candidates donot suffer silently on this issue. It would be worhwile if the NBE starts seat councelling as in AIPGME, the whole issue will not occur

    Here is the address

DNB hospitals are exploiting the new Fees clause

The letter from DNB endorsing the 50 k fees is supposed to be a confidential document in my hospital. But a senior consultant let me (I am a junior consultant) see it. They have not recommended compulsory fees. They have said, no donation, no arbit fees. The institute can (not must) take 50 k fees, for providing:

    1- Library access
    2 internet access (free)
    3- journals
    4- PG activities, seminars, etc
5- Must have teaching by consultants there regularly
6- Must have teaching by invited speakers from other cities even, regularly
    7- Must pay stipend acc to new norms - 8k, 9k and 10 k (i think)

However, my hospital is not providing any of these to any of the students. they cannot see the library, as many years ago some student left with some books.

In addition, they pay only 3000, 4000 and 5000 to 1st yr, 2nd yr and 3 rd yr DNBs, but they are made to sign receipts of the recommended fees. There is no teaching what so ever. No surgical exposure.

For everything they say we are a poor hospital (NOT true, we know about their fundings and finances).

So this new 50 k fees recommendation is a great blow to middle class background students.

And the director of the hospital is an old crony of DNB bigshots.

    So, what to do?

    DNB FLAWBACKS

    1) THERE IS NO COUNSELLING AFTER ENTRANCE TEST.VARIOUS HOSPITALS TAKE BENEFIT OF THIS. IN THE INTERVIEW THEY SELECT CANDIDATES, WHICH ARE HAVING INFLUENCE OR THEY ASK FOR LAKHS OF MONEY (WITHOUT GIVING ANY RECIPT) ALONG WITH THE TUTION FEES. AS I WAS A DNB STUDENT, I CAME TO KNOW FROM VARIOUS OTHER DNB STUDENTS OF DIFFERENT INSTITUTES THAT THIS IS HAPPENING IN MANY INSTITUTES WITHOUT COMING IN NOTICE OF THE NATIONAL BOARD.

    2) MANY A TIMES THESE HOSPITALS THEY SELECT CANDIDATES ONLY IF THEY HAVE WORKED IN THEIR OWN INSTITUTES FOR MANY MONTHS, AFTER CLEARING DNB. SO INTERVIEW IS JUST A EYE-WASH. FOR THEM BY DOING THIS THEY ARE JUST CHEATING THE CANDIDATES AND THE BOARD.

    3) AFTER THE STUDENT IS SELECTED, THE MAKE HIM TO WORK AS THE HOSPITAL WANTS. THESE INSTITUTES OR HOSPITALS DONOT FALLOW ANY GUIDELINES SET BY THE NATIONAL BOARD FOR ROTATION OF POSTINGS. I HAVE SEEN DNB CANDIDATES BEING PLACED IN VARIOUS OTHER DEPARTMENTS (e.g A MEDICINE RESIDENT DOING DUTIES IN SURGERY OR ORTHO, AS THE HOSPITAL IS SHORT OF RESIDENTS IN OTHER DEPARTMENTS). IF A CANDIDATE COMPLAINTS, THE RMO OR MEDICAL SUPERIDENT COMPLAINS OF THEIR CANCELLING OF DNB SEAT.

    4) THERE IS NO FIXED DAILY TIMINGS AS WELL THEY NUMBER OF NIGHT DUTIES IN A MONTH. MOST INSTITUTES HAVE TIMINGS FROM 8 AM TO 5-6 PM. NIGHT DUTIES ARE GIVEN ACCORDING TO HOSPITAL NEEDS (i.e,7 TO 12 NIGHT DUTIES IN A MONTH). AFTER NIGHT DUTIS THERE IS NO POST-NIGHT DUTY OFF. IT ONLY MEAN THAT A DNB CANDIDATES IS WORKING ALMOST >30 HOURS CONTINUOUSLY WITHOUT ANY REST. YOU YOURSELF CALCULATE THE TIME LEFT FOR STUDIES BY THE STUDENT, IF THIS IS A SITUATION.

    5) WORST OF ALL, THERE IS NO ACADEMICS OR TEACHINGS IN ALMOST ALL HOSPITALS. THE SPECIALST OR TEACHERS OF VARIOUS BRANCHES WORK IN MORE THAN ONE (INFACT MANY) CORPORATE OR PRIVATE HOSPITALS. THEY DON’T HAVE TIME OR THEY ARE LEAST INTERSTED FOR TEACHINGS AND ACADEMICS. SPECIALISTS SIMPLY SAY THAT THEY ARE NOT BENEFITTED. IF YOU BRING THIS TO THE NOTICE OF MANAGEMENT, EVEN THEY ARE HELPLESS. NO BODY GUIDE FOR THESIS. DNB CANDIDATES ARE JUST USED TO WORK AS CLERKS OR AS HOSPITALS NEEDS. IN NIGHT DUTIES, SOME TIMES THEY ARE WITHOUT THEIR SENIORS ON CALL. DNB CANDIDATES ARE THE POOR SUFFERER.

    6) IF THE CANDIDATE EVER ASK FOR ATTENDING A LECTURE OR SEMINAR OR CLASS WHICH IS GOING ON IN OTHER MEDICAL COLLEGE OR CONFERENCE; THE HOSPITALS AUTHORITY DONOT GIVE PERMISSION FOR THE SAME. THEY ONLY SAY WHO WILL WORK IN THE HOSPITAL.

    7) SOME INSTITUTES DONOT GIVE FULL STIFEND AS PER BOARD RULES.

LAST AND THE MOST IMPORTANT, DNB FINAL TO CLEAR IS NOT SO EASY. PASS % IS 10-25.

i applied for a seat of secondary radiology DNB in a hyderabad hosp.
you guys will not BELIEVE the DIRECTOR of the hospital asked me a sum of 10 LAKH RUPEES! and trust me guys iam writing this in my senses .i replied to him i come from a middle class i cant apply .he replied than only those will be taken who can afford......guys i am all ready for a sting operation
  13. DNB theory for capitation

the DNB board authority should pay attension to this forum rather than looking at their site for the complaints
    DNB theory is
1)THE DNB authorities GET HUUUUGE some of money for recognising a hospital for DNB irrespective of the inspecting authority reports
    2) and so they keep a room for manupilation as explained by the fact that the institutes recognised by the DNB for courses has not been updated form last THREEEE years
2)the institution which has paid money then gets that money back buy
    i) capitation
    ii) giving less stipend
iii) allowing post diploma candidates to work as consultants thus saving considerable amounts annually
iv)sending post diploma candidates to their peripheral centers at nominal charges (where nobody is ready to go) this explains why post diploma students are asked to do two years course (previously it was ONE tear only)

so guys if ur middle class get ready to get tourtered or else put a small shop for food items and leave the medical field quietly as if u complain and if action is also taken (in very few no  of cases) it will get dissolved after two to three months and YOU will be screwed after that for complaint

my personal expirience- capitation of 15 lakhs for primary seat!

The So called DNB and its equivalence to MD/MS/Mch was the creation of high level beaurocrats to get their inefficient and incompetent children at par with efficient, hardworking middle class group who by their hardwork earned a lions share in the reputed colleges and institutions of India.

    Hi

U all may apply to reputed hospitals for ur dnb interview. keep a hidden microphone with u along with ur video camera mobile on during intervie etc. . rest will be history.
besides the good institutes dont take this money u are telling. I did DNB where we paid only 25000 per year for 3 years. I suggest if u have an evidence against them they will give u the stipend also back to you.
We have recorded versions of classes taken in our recorders got cladestinely.

Whatever u have ritten is true. there are many who do this in shade.

    ur well wisher

i will write down my own experiences of the DNB fraud ......
i paid a sum of 1.5 lakhs under the table to get the DNB radiology in the bhopal medicalenter.
    it is a cheat.
the doctors are treated like cattle, made to sit in a cramped room of 6 feet by sic feet.
even crappy managers are allowed to abuse the docs.
    their inefficinecy on docs!
stipend of 3000 with reciept of 10000.
    NO ACEDEMICS WHAT SO EVER.
    NO LIBRARY.
    NO PLATES.
MBBS students learn from DMRD candidates! no guide for thesis.
students get ready made thsis becuase no way out.
i left my DNB months after joining it seeing the dismal prospects.
DNB seat had been ther ein the bhopal medicla center for years but not a single cadidate eithe rMBBS or DMRD had cleared.
how could they? with no acedemics?
the propritor of the bhopal medicla cente ris a shrewd bussiness man with many busisnesses and no medicla background what so ever.
when i lefty my seat i asked my money back which they did not give.
they instaed sold the seat to another candidate in 2 lakhs!

now after a hiatus of many years ( marriage, pregnancy and child birth)
im again gearing up for AIPPG, i can join a DNB starigth away but i dont want to repat the mistake.

i know at age 32 , mothe rof a small baby girl, everyone woudl probably laugh at me for even hoping i can clear AIPPG. but i really want to give it one last and one best try. :( if i fail i wuld join MHA. but never DNB again.

what ever else i do , i would NEVER join the great DNB fraud again.

  22. regarding DNB

 I AM REALLY SHOCKED ABOUT THE STORIES WRITTEN BY MY JUNIOR COLLEAGUES. I AM DOING DNB CARDIOLOGY FROM A VERY REPUTED HOSPITAL IN SOUTH DELHI AFTER FINISHING MY MD MEDICINE,EVEN THOUGH I WAS WORKING IN SAME HOSPITAL FOR 1 YR BEFORE FIRST ENTRANCE I WAS NOT GIVEN SEAT,AND YOU WONT BELIEVE OUT OF 8 INTERNAL CANDIDATES INSTITUTE HAD CHOSEN TWO OUT SIDE CANDIDATES JUST ON BASIS OF THEIR PERFORMANCE.ANY WAY I PREPARED FOR CET NEXT YR CLEARED IT AND SCORED HIGHEST TO GET A SEAT IN MY OWN INSTITUTE,OF COURSE CLEARING AN INTERVIEW BEFORE THAT.MY OTHER COLLEAGUE IS FROM OTHER INSTITUTE, LEAVING BEHIND MANY FROM MY OWN INSTITUTE.AS FAR THE MONEY IS CONCERNED THE INSTITUTE CHARGES THE FEE AS GUIDED BY NATIONAL BOARD AND IT GIVES THE STIPEND EQUAL TO OR MANY A TIMES MORE THAN GOVT INSTITUTE INCLUDING AIIMS IF THE CANDIDATE IS SENIOR ENOUGH.WE HAVE ONE DEDICATED MEDICAL EDUCATION DIRECTOR TAKING CARE OF OUR INTERESTS LIKE LEARNING AND STIPEND. WE HAVE ACADEMICS AS GOOD AS ANY ORGANIZATION GIVING DM CARDIOLOGY. WE ARE INDEPENDENTLY MANAGING NIGHT DUTIES WITH CONSULTANTS ONSIDE HELPING US.I HAVE PRESENTED SEMINARS, JOURNAL CLUBS AND CASE PRESENTATIONS FAR EXCEEDING REQUIREMENT OF DNB,I AM ALLOWED TO TEACH JRS INCLUDING PGDCC. BELIEVE ME ITS NOT SOME THING I AM MISGUIDING YOU BUT IT IS JUST TO TEEL YOU THAT LIKE THERE ARE SO MANY MEDICAL COLLEGES WHICH ARE DE RECOGNIZED OR SHORT OF STUFFS,ITS SAME WITH DNB,SO CHOOSE UR INSTITUTION CAREFULLY,BEFORE JOINING.YES DEFINITELY PASSING DNB MAY SOUND TOUGH AND IT IS BEOZ NO BODY KNOWS YOU THERE BUT JUST KNOWS UR KNOWLEDGE THROUGH THEORY AND PRACTICAL PERFORMANCE. SO ALL THE BEST FOR THE CANDIDATES WHO JOIN DNB.PLZ DONT BE INFLUENCED BY OTHERS ,JUST GO THE PLACE BEFORE JOINING AND SEE HOW GOOD IT IS.
