You have to sit in a written test first conducted by this hospital, Once selected in the written test you would be called for interview, but as the grapevine goes you need to know someone inside the hospital

Another tip: Those lucky few who get selected without some higher support almost always have applied in 4 specialities.

Also the interview of seats is in alphabetical order so that comparatively higher demand specialities like Radiology / Pediatrics / Surgery come at the end; and if you want to participate in these seats interviews (assuming you are called for interview for these seats) you should not already have taken a seat in previous specialities. (Again a Double edged sword)

Anyways the forms are out now, here are the dates

    Thanks

Thanks a lot for the information.

One more query can i get to know in what all places gynaecology seats are still vacant?

Does the primary exam score matter for the final selection?

    Thanks
    Deepti

    family medicine

Since medicine is all about new developments n re-searches,n catering to the TIMELY need of the people,i have a CERTAIN INTEREST IN FAMILY MEDICINE even though it may not look so charismatic.but i have only a limited idea about the ACTUAL UNOFFICIAL PRACTICAL SIDE TO THE FIELD.EG,IN GENERAL SURGERY,u cud say such hospitals let u do such n such surgeries;such institutes u work in to get preference for superspecialities without much hassle/inconvenience;good teachers(retired from govt. medical colleges in some institutes/private hospitals so it's worth applying for a PG course there;scope of general surgery is still there inspite of the specailities existing beyond;salarywise assessment n time-money co-ordination with daily life better than general medicine;and so on n so forth.
BUT WHT ABOUT FAMILY MEDICINE?oh yes they do say a lot abt SEVICE to the people, may remind you of the typical GP PERIOD u run thru' immmediate POST-MBBS,SALARIES are a disputed area,SCOPE in different places and associated relevance and requirements even TRYING SINCERELY to be given in different places in the world is different.compare ABROAD,eg,the UK/US with INDIA-even if we talk a lot,we haven't improved the existing facilities to the extent beyond our cities-not even the towns can be commendable in this respect, let alone the villages,INSPITE OF THE FUNDS EXISTING.I APPRECIATE N AGREE that the new FREE-NO-ENTRANCE/DNB PRIMARY REQUIREMENT will attract quite a number of newly passed out candidates to JOIN THE GP FORCE/INCREASE GP MANPOWER BY DEFAULT in their view to ATTAIN A PG DEGREE while not wasting their time EXPLORING THE GP set-up IN AN ORGANIZED MANNER,ALTHOUGH this doesn't necessarily mean we will get the state-of-the-art training in this respect(THEIDEAS R THERE,BUT THE SET-UP IS STILL IN AN UNSURE STAGE)they cud also PREPARE FOR A POSSIBLE FUTURE MD/MS VIA ENTRANCE(I THINK NOT DNB-NOT SURE ABT DUAL/MULTIPLE DNB'S) OR A POST-DOCTORAL COURSE,OR OTHER THINGS LIKE IGNOU.
MY MAIN CONCERN is that i have an ATTRACTION towards all areas of medicine, including ALTERNATIVEMEDICINE also.also the REFERRAL power of the GP in the UK,the pulse/fever ofwhich may very well hit india in the coming years(there was a REMOTE suggestion/mention once in the papers by a politician in kerala about an organised GP system, but nothiong was ever heard or read by me further in the papers later. Also that is not practically feasible unless prime importance is given to the ATTRACTIONS of working in n coming to a HOSPITAL,primarily cleanliness, facilties for the DOCS N STAFF both inside n outside the hospital(this is continuing to be a neglected area-IF ONLY THE POLITICIANS CUD RECOGNISE THAT THIS WUD BE A WORTHWHILE INVESTMENT FOR THE PEOPLE AS WELL AS THEMSELVES-I MEAN such things as wud make the docs/staff continue to be in that place,eg,basic higher STANDARD COMPETITIVE BROAD-BASED ALL-AREA EDUCATION of their kids;other people of their own relatives/social status living close-by in an efficient colony set-up,etc to MINGLE with also-i mean HONESTLY SPEAKING u don't expect atleast most of the doctors brought up in a city or who have gone thru' the medical colleges of today to spend more than a certain TIME FOR STRICT SERVICE N MINGLING with the local/rural people-DUE TO VARIOUS KNOWN BUT IGNORED REASONS OTHER THAN PURE BIAS-same VICE-VERSA from the rural people also-u cud sometimes get an unnecessarily attracted piece of their mind if u try to be TOO SINCERE to them-which means even that quality may be rooted out-atleast we have to SERIOUSLY FOCUS on maintaining the existing sincerity IN A PRACTICAL MANNER-hence the pevious CONTROVERSIAL STATUS CLAUSES by me,and so on and so forth in the field of ATTRACTIONS),facilities for the patients n ECONOMICAL PROVISIONS/PACKAGES/SCHEMES,eg, whereby locally 1 rich man pays the price of 3-5 poor people whilethe unaffording group gets free major n semi-major treatments(but not overdoing the price factor-even for the rural "rich man" the price shud not be such that he wud end up going to the cities only for major treatments,as well as not inderdoing a basic price factor fo who can even afford 10 rs per month even if it be by employer perks) poor man kind of remedies ET AL.and remember all these can be done only by TRIAL N ERROR after a CERTAIN AMOUNT has been ascertainedly PLANNED beforehand.
OOPS OOPS OOPS!!! SORRY AGAIN-BUT I TRULY WISH TO KNOW ABOUT THESE N OTHER PRACTICAL N UNOFFICIAL AREAS,PLACEMENTS N PERKS N OTHER SCOPE FOR A DNB FAMILY MEDICINE-QUALIFIED GP IN INDIA N ABROAD---FROM THE VERY FEW WHO R ALREADY INTO THE SAME FIELD ALREADY. TIME-MONEY, PLACE- PEOPLE,SERVICE-PRACTICE ETC CO-ORDINATIONS-HOW DO THEY WORK OUT BASICALLY.HOW MUCH OF EACH FIELD DO U EFFECTIVELY DISCOVER(EG,in the general surgery-3 months that u included in the DNB FAMILY MEDICINE COURSE---seems to me that u will only REPEAT what u learned in HOUSIE---and NOT LEARN THE ARTof doing minor n semi-major SURGICAL PROCEDURES to even one-tenth of a surgeon's capacity---also a POST-DOCTORAL COURSE IN SURGERY FOR GP'S is a DEFINITIVE NEED for routine surgical cases without much unexpected complications in a RURAL SET-UP HOSPITAL/CLINIC INSTEAD OF inconveniently n ineffectively n uneconomically REFERRING them to the CITIES).EVEN IN THE COURSE HOW DO U KNOW U R SET FOR A CERTAIN GOAL?(eg,a GENERAL MEDICINE qulaifier/physician wud know he wants to set himself a local hospital PHYSICIAN or he wud want to set his career in other SUPER specialities atleast after a certain time thru' the PG course if not earlier-i ask so similarly in the case of a GP).ALSO PROPER LINKAGES/ROUTES IN THIS FIELD MAY SPRING UP BETWEEN COUNTRIES WITH GP'S ON AN INT'L BASIS.
PLEASE DO THE NECESSARY RESARCH AND ASK ALL THE NECESSARY PEOPLE-GP'S,ADMIN,SENIOR/JUNIOR,SPECIALISTS(ONLY RELEVANT Q'S),ABROAD/INDIA,ET AL. AS THIS INFO CUD BE USEFUL FOR MANY TO COME,NOT ONLY IN THIS FIELD OF GP'S,BUT ALSO OTHER HUMANS LIKE US FOR A BETTER N HEALING N SHINING INDIA N THE WORLD.
I REQUEST YOU HUMBLY TO SEND ME A DETAILED E-MAIL REGARDING WHAT ALL I ASKED FOR HERE,N MORE IF U HAVE UNDERSTOOD MY FREQUENCY.MY E-MAIL ADDRESS IS docshemi@gmail.com

  21. DNB COURSES

    HELLO,

I PRESUME THAT YOU WOULD HAVE PASSED DNB-CET BY JULY 2008, TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR DNB ORTHOPEDICS, UNLESS YOU'VE ALREADY DONE YOUR D.ORTHO COURSE.

SO FAR, EVERY INSTITUTION ADVERTISES IT'S COURSES IN LEADING NEWSPAPERS IN JUNE/JULY & DECEMBER /JANUARY EVERY YEAR & ONE HAS TO APPLY TO EACH ONE SEPARATELY.

DNB-CET EXAM GIVES ONLY PASS OR FAIL STATUS, NOT ANY RANK OR MARKS, SO I'M NOT SURE HOW THESE HOSPITALS DECIDE THE MERIT OF THE CANDIDATES.

hello people i am doing my d.n.b. in sir ganga ram hospital,
i had no connections what so ever
i just wanted my branch, i got it(im intentionally nit mentioning which course i am in)
there is always a gap between quality and quantity
    here its all about quality......
the passing percentage...well thats the sad part
getting in is easy and getting out is tough very tough
but if u love the branch then thats all that matters :)
