The Insomnia station poses a significant challenge for the candidates due to the time constraint. There are few issues:
The pt exhibits Insomnia after the death of her husband and also suffers from the OA in the above case. The key here is extract further information in regards to the Sleep patterns, offer empathy for her loss and further inquire about the bereavement pattern. There are quite few differentials for the loss of sleep and candidates is expected to elucidate few of them in the interview.
Broken sleep due to noise, drugs, depression, mania, psychosis, anxiety, rule out the suicidal ideation, talk about the poor sleep hygiene issues etc.
At the end if the candidate is able to ascertain the real cause, talk about the good sleep hygiene and prospects of offering medications.

For Insomnia history, try to keep in mind the following things:

Insomnia can be caused by many different things, including stressful events, psychiatric problems, underlying physical conditions, and drug and substance misuse. It can also be a side effect of certain medications.
