    A 20 month old boy is brought in to the department by his mother with a temperature. On examination he struggles to settle and has a temperature of 38.6oC, his other observations are within normal limits.
    1) Give three features seen on otoscopy in acute otitis media

    Streptococcus pneumoniae,
    H.Influenza
    Staphylococcus aureus

    is it correct?

    a 6yr old child is brouht in by her mother, previuosly fit and healthy, now presenting with h/o cold for last 24hrs and she has been actively fitting for 15 mins...
    1. calculate the weight of this child
    2. give 4 drugs with doses and route for seizure control
    3.D/D for purpuric rash
    4.drug of choice for meningococeemia


    1.wt=(age+4)*2
    =6+4 *2
    =20kgs.

    2.lorazepam i.v 0.1mg/kg body wt
    diazepam p.r 0.2mg/kg
    phenytoin 15-18mg/kg i.v
    phenobarbitone 18-20mg/kg
    thiopentone sodium i.v for intubation and ventilation(dose not sure)


    3.purpuric rash:
    meningitis
    sepsis?
    i dont know

    4.treatment is inj benzyle penicillin 1.2 gram iv in divided doses for 5 to 7 days. correct?


    diazepam 0.5mg/kg PR
    midazolam 0.5mg/kg buccal
    lorazepam 0.1mg/kg iv/io
    phenytoin 20mg/kg iv/io
    paraldehyde 0.4ml/kg pr


    meningococcal meninitis
    ITP
    leukemia
    HSP
