    Hello,

    thanks a lot maam....
is it a superspecialisation course or after mbbs 1 can take admission?
  4. DNB courses

    Hello,

Nuclear Medicine is listed under Broad Specialities, so you can do DNB in the subject directly after MBBS!However, exam maybe held only once a year(usually December), if there aren't many registrations for the course.

Normally speaking the scope of nuclear medicine would involve

    1) Thallium cardiac scans (stress / persantin)
    2) Thyroid / renal / WBC labelled scintiscans etc
    3) Grey area : Bone mineral density scans
    4) PET scans / reporting (very few scanners +expensive machine +++ around 15 million dollars)
    5) Bone scans - looking for # / mets / inflammatory changes

Radioimmunoassay would normally be the domain of chemical pathologists / biochemists

    thanks
  10. DNB courses

    Hello friends,

You all can surely try applying for DNB course but they will want the CET result, latest by the time of interview, naturally!

About Orthopaedics, its always better to choose Orthopaedics hospital, preferably in a Metro city, where one gets to see a variety of cases. After completing DNB terms, please work in a public hospital for 6 months, to get practical experience, which you can't get in a Private hospital!

    regarding application for DNB

    hello m'am

could you pls guide me regarding application for dnb seat
i mean i have cleared the entrance for the same

my doubt is how many hospitals can i apply at a time and in a hospital can i apply for two subjects

the site is not showing any vacancies

    kindly help
  12. DNB courses

    Hello pavithra,

You should apply to multiple hospitals so that you're more likely to get the branch of your choice! You can surely give the 1st & 2nd preference of the subject that you wish to join, unless the hospital has specified otherwise.

As most ads are already out, you'll have to find out details of DNB seats from respective websites of individual hospitals, preferrably personally, or atleast telephonically.

    Hello ma'am
i wanted to know..whether it would be wise to opt for DNB Ophthalm instead of DO from a govt hospital..?
  15. DNB courses

    Hello,

Its always better to do an MCI-recognized Diploma in Ophthalmology & then do DNB or MS. Then you can start practice in any state, even while you wait for tough DNB results, which takes 2-3 attempts! The experience which you'll get in a Government hospital will never go waste!

  17. DNB courses

    Hello Balaji,

Don't get so frustrated.I think that you have taken a wise decision to do DNB-CET.Meanwhile, please join a good hospital for an unregistered post for getting work experience.Besides, many hospitals give preference to their own candidates, for giving a DNB seat later on!

South India has many good hospitals esp. in Metro cities like Chennai, Hyderabad & Bangalore, where one gets to see a variety of referrals & latest equipments/procedures.After DNB term, you can do a plain post for 6 months in a public sector hospital, to get hands-on experience.

    ALL THE BEST!

  19. DNB courses

    Hello annie,

DNB Radiology has excellent prospects & Narayana Hrudayalaya is a very wellknown institute.

The likely questions for Radiology maybe:-

1.Newer interventional & imaging procedures available for diagnosis & management of various problems(CT Scan, MRI, PET Scan, USG guided biopsy, etc).

2.Which simple Xray is useful for diagnosis of the following illness?
    a)Renal stone vs Gallstone
b)fracture neck of femur vs fracture pelvis
c)Enlargent of Left atrium vs enlargement of right atrium
d)fracture base of skull vs orbital fracture
    e)diagnosis of Apical tuberculosis

3.what complications can occur during radiology procedures, especially interventional radiology?how will you try to prevent them & if they still occur, how will you treat them?

Please don't fall into the trap of agents who may promise to a seat & then vanish without leaving a trace!

    ALL THE BEST!

IS IT SO?IF YES FOR AN AVG STUDENT HOW MANY ATTEMPTS WILL IT TAKE TO FINISH THE COURSE?

2...TO PREPARE FOR PRIMARY ENTRANCE ,I HAV GOT BHATIA DNB BOOK .DO I HAV TO JOIN SPEED ONLY FOR DNB PRIMARY SAKE??

3..I LOVE TEACHING!! IF U DO DNB SEEMS WE CANT BECOME A PROFESSOR??IS IT SO..

  21. DNB courses

    Hello Balaji,

Apart from Bhatia, I've heard of Shivam & Salgunan where all questions of various entrance exams are given.Try to get hold of previous DNB papers as very often many of them are repeated.

I don't agree that DNB Medicine is the toughest as I've heard much worse reports for Paediatrics & OBGY!In any case, be prepared for 2-3 attempts.

MCI is refusing to give equivalence of MD/MS to DNB students, so you'll surely be able to get promotions, albeit a little later! However, even if you get attachment to a Private hospital, you can always teach students there, becuse that's the need of the day & in fact, NBE insists on the same!

hello dr asha...mam thanks for ur suggestions they r really valuable!!

do u think its necassry to join speed coaching only for the sake of dnb primary?
also i heard we need to keep i touch with the hosp we want to do our dnb course much before the admissions itself!!
i hav zeroed in on apollo creams road chennai or southern railway hosp chennai...i m really confused between the two...can u suggest which will be a better option for general medicine?

    regards
    balaji
  23. DNB courses

    Hello Balaji,

I don't see any need for coaching for DNB-CET!The questions are quite straightforward & many are repeated from previous papers & there's no negative marking!

About your other question, both hospitals are very good! Most hospitals give preference for DNB seats, to people who are already working there!

    Dr. Asha pls help
i have been selected for d.oms cps course and i am not sure whether to take it up or not should i give it up and directly try for dnb, if i do diploma am i directly eligible for 2 dnb or will have to do primary is it true that u can do only private practice after a cps diploma pls help
  26. DNB courses

    Hello,

CPS courses are certainly derecognized by MCI!I'm not sure of MOHFW's recognition of these courses, because that website needs to be updated!

If you do DOMS from CPS, its recognized for practice within Maharashtra, but its unlikely that you will be able to do DNB in 2-years!Besides, they may insist on DNB-CET!

Still, if you're not planning to leave Maharashtra, you can do the Diploma first, because you can atleast practice here till you clear DNB!

  29. DNB courses

    Hello,

If D.Ortho is MCI-recognized, its worth taking it up, because you can do Secondary DNB in 2 years!Even after completing DNB terms, while you're waiting for results, you can do a plain post in Orthopaedics for practical experience, or even do your Private Practice in Orthopaedics till then.

    DNB Pedia results

    Hi Madam,
I heared that DNB Pedia final passing rate is very low. Could you kindly give some glimpse on passing percentage of Pedia as compared to other subjects?
    Thanks for the same.
    -Kalindi.
  31. DNB courses

    Hello Kalindi,

DNB results of Paediatrics are generally tough, so you can expect them to be about 15-20%, as compared with 25-30% for other branches!
You may require an average of atleast 2 attempts to pass the exam!

    Dr.Asha Paidhungat.
  32. Kalindi Shah

every year DNB final result 5% .
No one bother why this happen?
Why DNB board so incompitent ?
Why not DNB board should like MD and MS like board & Exam will be similar like MD & MS.
When DNB improve God know or poltician know?
  34. DNB exams

    Hello,

I'm glad that DNB is not like MD/MS, though I fully agree that results should be more encouraging for candidates who join the DNB course!

The standard of General Medicine & General Surgery has become so low nowadays that there's almost 100% result for these branches! In our time, 2 attempts for MD Medicine was very common, because results used to be about 20-25%!

So I won't say that DNB exam should be taken more competently, but that they should be more liberal about the results!

In any exam, transparency is mandatory & model answers, break-up of marks for various parts of a question, are ways to reduce personal error!

    Dr.Asha Paidhungat.

i wish to join dnb paediatrics.ma'am kindly guide us as to passing of which part of dnb paediatrics is tough theory or practical
i am also considering the option of joining cps dch in maharashtra.ma'am my dilemma is whether i should join dnb or cps.i am a resident of rajasthan.will that be a hinderance to cps recognition
    thnx in advance
  37. PG courses

    Hello Pranav,

Paediatrics is a very tough subject at every level, whether its Diploma or Degree, whether its MD or DNB! Practicals are of course much tougher than Theory!

CPS courses have lost their MCI recognition, so you can practice only in Maharashtra, not in Rajasthan! If you are able to get an MCI-recognized Diploma through All India Entrance/State Medical Entrance, that's a better option than doing DNB directly, because even while you're awaiting DNB results, you can atleast start your own practice in Paediatrics! The only thing to remember is that since you can't get much hands-on experience in Private hospitals while you're doing DNB, do a plain unregistered post in a public hospital after completing DNB terms!

what is d scope for dnb anaesthesia n what r the passing %

    dear maam,
could u please tell me about the future prospects in dnb anaesthesia bcoz i have heard that people with md anaesthesia r given preference. i may get diploma anesthesia through cet. shud i take it up n do secondary dnb or shud i another year off n give the cet again for md anaesthesia. m very confused. please do reply soon. will be really greatfull
  39. DNB Courses

    Hello,

Its not clear if you've already got a Diploma in Anaesthesia or are going to get it through this year's Entrance exam.If you're getting it this year,
you can do a Secondary DNB after that, if its an MCI-recognized D.A!

MD Anaesthesia is considered to be higher in teaching hospitals, but in Private hospitals, DNB Anaesthesia has a good scope!

As you're not sure of getting MD Anaestheia in the next AIPGMEE or State Medical entrance exam, do D.A now & then do DNB, since its recognized by MCI.Even while you're waiting for DNB results, you can practice in any state in India with D.A !

  46. DNB courses

    Hello,

Join a good hospital in a Metro city where you'll see lot of cases & latest procedures, though you may not get hands-on experience.

Dermatology has an excellent scope in practice & for hospital attachment, a degree is mandatory.Even in your own practice, you don't need much of an investment.

If you want to specialize in Cosmetology/Trichology which is an upcoming branch, a basic Dermatology degree/background is important.
